Preparing for a Mount Kilimanjaro climb requires careful planning and the right gear to ensure a safe and successful trek. At Everyday Safaris, we want to make your climb as comfortable and enjoyable as possible. This Kilimanjaro packing guide will help you pack efficiently and avoid unnecessary weight while ensuring you have all the essential gear. The Kilimanjaro National Park Authority and the Kilimanjaro porters’ association have established rules to limit the amount porters can carry. Each porter is permitted to carry a maximum of 20kg, and it is recommended that you bring about 5kg in your daypack, which should include 3 to 5 liters of water. The weight limit remains at 20kg, and we suggest that you pack roughly 14-15kg in your larger bag for the porter to assist you with.
Important Travel Note: Plastic bags are prohibited in the country. Ensure that there are none in your luggage upon arrival. Zip-lock-style bags are exempt from this restriction.
