14-Day Private Tanzania Safari Stone Town and Zanzibar East Coast Holiday

14 Days

14-Day Private Tanzania Safari Stone Town and Zanzibar East Coast Holiday combines a northern Tanzania wildlife safari with a Zanzibar island holiday in one continuous itinerary. The mainland section delivers a private Tanzania wildlife safari followed by Stone Town and an East Coast Zanzibar beach stay, while the Zanzibar section slows the pace with beach time, island culture and optional marine experiences.

This package is designed as a genuine two-part journey rather than two unrelated trips. Safari routing follows park conditions and wildlife movement, while Zanzibar activities depend on weather, tides, sea conditions and local availability. Wildlife, Great Migration events and marine life are never guaranteed.

Why Combine Safari and Zanzibar?

The safari gives travelers early mornings, game drives and wildlife-rich landscapes across northern Tanzania. Zanzibar then changes the rhythm completely, adding Indian Ocean beaches, Stone Town, local culture and time to relax after the road-based safari.

Explore our Safari + Zanzibar guide, Tanzania safaris, Serengeti National Park, Ngorongoro Crater, Zanzibar holidays and Zanzibar beach extensions.

Safari Experience

Everyday Safaris uses experienced local driver-guides and flexible game-drive planning. The exact route depends on the confirmed itinerary, park regulations, road conditions and seasonal wildlife distribution. No species, predator sighting, river crossing or migration event is promised.

Zanzibar Experience

The Zanzibar portion includes only the hotel, transfers and excursions confirmed in the final quotation. Tides can change beach conditions substantially, especially on parts of the East Coast. Snorkeling, dhow trips and other marine activities proceed only when local operators consider conditions safe.

Who Is This Trip Best For?

This combination is ideal for travelers who want serious wildlife viewing on the mainland followed by a slower island finish. It works particularly well for couples, families, honeymooners and first-time Tanzania visitors who want both safari and beach in one holiday.

Day 01 :
Private Arusha to Tarangire Safari

Meet your Everyday Safaris driver-guide in Arusha after breakfast and travel south-west toward Tarangire National Park. After entry formalities, begin the first game drive through landscapes shaped by ancient baobabs, seasonal swamps and the Tarangire River. The park is particularly well known for elephants, but wildlife movements change with rainfall and season, so the guide reads tracks, water sources and recent sightings rather than following a fixed circuit. Pause for a picnic or lodge lunch according to the booked program, then continue exploring until late afternoon. Leave the park or continue to the selected lodge area for dinner, a safari briefing and overnight rest.

Day 02 :
Private Full-Day Tarangire Safari

Spend a full day exploring Tarangire with the freedom to follow wildlife activity rather than rushing between parks. Morning hours can be productive around river systems and open woodland, while the middle of the day often provides opportunities to watch elephants, giraffes, zebra, antelope and predators resting or moving between shade and water. Your guide adjusts the route according to season, road conditions and fresh sightings, using quieter tracks when they offer better viewing. A picnic or lodge lunch breaks the day before the afternoon game drive continues through baobab country and seasonal wetlands. Return to the lodge in the late afternoon with time to relax before dinner.

Day 03 :
Tarangire to Serengeti

Depart the Tarangire or Karatu area early for the drive toward Serengeti National Park, passing through the northern Tanzania highlands and Ngorongoro Conservation Area. The day covers significant distance, but the changing landscapes from baobab country to volcanic highlands and open plains make the transfer part of the safari experience. After entering the Serengeti, begin game viewing on the way to camp rather than treating the final hours as a simple road transfer. Your guide adjusts stops according to wildlife and daylight, avoiding unrealistic promises about how much ground can be covered. Reach the lodge or tented camp in time for dinner and overnight.

Day 04 :
Private Full-Day Serengeti Safari

Spend a full day on game drives in Serengeti, with the schedule built around wildlife activity rather than a rigid mileage target. An early start can provide cooler conditions and strong predator activity, while later hours may reveal large herbivore herds moving between grazing and water. Your guide uses recent sightings, seasonal knowledge and quieter tracks to search for lions, cheetahs, leopards, elephants, giraffes, buffalo and plains game without crowding animals. Take a picnic lunch in the park or return to camp depending on the confirmed safari style. Continue through the afternoon and finish with a slow game drive back to the lodge or tented camp before dinner.

Day 05 :
Second Private Serengeti Safari Day

Use the second private Serengeti day to explore a contrasting habitat or wildlife zone from the previous day. Because the vehicle is private, departure time and the balance between long sightings, photography stops and lodge time can be adjusted around your party within park rules. The guide may concentrate on big-cat territories, kopjes, riverine areas or open plains depending on recent activity. A picnic or camp lunch keeps the schedule flexible. The extra day reduces the need to rush and creates more time to observe behavior rather than simply moving from one sighting to another.

Day 06 :
Third Serengeti Day with Flexible Wildlife Focus

Keep the third Serengeti day highly flexible, using what the guide has learned from the previous two days to target areas that have been especially productive. An early start can focus on predators and cooler conditions, while the afternoon may be used for elephants, giraffes, plains game or a completely different landscape sector. The private vehicle allows longer stops when a meaningful interaction develops and avoids unnecessary mileage when wildlife is already close. Return to camp before dark and prepare for the next day’s move toward the Ngorongoro highlands.

Day 07 :
Serengeti to Ngorongoro Highlands

Begin with a final morning game drive in the Serengeti, using the cooler hours to search for wildlife before leaving the plains. The route then travels toward the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, gradually moving from open savannah into volcanic highlands. Depending on the season, road conditions and lodge location, the guide may include additional game viewing around the southern Serengeti or conservation-area plains before climbing toward the crater rim. The day is intentionally flexible because wildlife can slow the journey in the best possible way. Arrive at the selected crater-rim, highland or Karatu lodge for dinner and an early night before the crater descent.

Day 08 :
Private Ngorongoro Crater Safari and Arusha

Descend into Ngorongoro Crater early, when temperatures are cooler and wildlife activity can be strong across the caldera floor. The crater supports a dense concentration of large mammals in a relatively contained landscape, including buffalo, zebra, wildebeest, gazelles, hippos and predators; black rhino may be seen but sightings are never guaranteed. Your driver-guide moves between grassland, marsh, woodland and lake-edge habitats while managing viewing time within conservation-area regulations. Stop for a picnic lunch at an approved area, then continue the game drive before climbing the crater wall. Transfer afterward to the selected highland, Karatu or onward lodge for dinner and overnight. Return privately to Arusha.

Day 09 :
Mainland Tanzania to Zanzibar and Beach Transfer

After breakfast and the end of the mainland section, transfer to the confirmed airport or departure point for the journey to Zanzibar. The domestic flight or ferry connection is included only when specifically stated in the final quotation. On arrival in Zanzibar, meet the local representative and transfer to the confirmed hotel or beach resort. Check in and keep the remainder of the day deliberately light, allowing time to recover from the mainland journey, walk on the beach or settle into the property. Swimming and marine activities depend on tide, weather and local sea conditions. The confirmed meal plan begins according to the booked hotel and arrival time.

Day 10 :
Stone Town Guided Cultural and Historical Walk

Meet the local guide after breakfast for a deeper Stone Town walking tour. Explore historic streets, carved doors, market areas, waterfront architecture and selected heritage points while the guide explains Zanzibar’s Swahili culture and the island’s complex Indian Ocean trading history. The route is adjusted to heat, opening hours and local conditions. Museum or special-site admissions are included only when listed in the final quotation. After the guided portion, keep the afternoon free for independent exploring, shopping, coffee or rest before a second Stone Town evening.

Day 11 :
Stone Town to Zanzibar East Coast

Leave Stone Town for the confirmed East Coast beach hotel. A spice-farm, Jozani-area nature visit or local stop can be added en route only when specifically included, otherwise the transfer goes directly to the coast. Check in and spend the remainder of the day settling into the beach environment. East Coast tides can create dramatic differences between high and low water, so swimming conditions change through the day. The hotel or guide can advise on safe swimming times and nearby activities.

Day 12 :
East Coast Beach and Leisure Day

Spend a full day on the East Coast at a relaxed pace. Walk the beach, use the resort facilities, swim when tides and sea conditions allow or explore nearby cafes and village areas respectfully. Guests interested in water sports can arrange activities through appropriate local operators, but availability depends on wind and sea conditions. This open day provides a useful break after Stone Town and avoids making the itinerary feel over-programmed. Return to the confirmed hotel for the evening meal according to the booked meal plan.

Day 13 :
Optional East Coast Nature or Cultural Experience

Keep the fifth day flexible between beach relaxation and a confirmed local experience. Depending on the hotel location, options may include a village walk, seaweed-farming visit, Jozani-area nature excursion or locally operated marine trip. Activities are chosen around genuine local availability rather than presented as automatic inclusions. Marine wildlife is not guaranteed, and visitors should avoid touching coral or disturbing animals. Return to the beach hotel for the final evening and time to pack.

Day 14 :
East Coast to Zanzibar Airport or Ferry Terminal

Enjoy breakfast and a final look at the coast before check-out. The driver collects you for the transfer across the island to Zanzibar airport or the ferry terminal, using a departure time that allows for road conditions and terminal check-in requirements. If the onward service leaves late, a day room or additional activity can be quoted but is not automatically included. The six-day Stone Town and East Coast holiday ends at the agreed terminal.
