Socialist Peak is Mount Meru's highest objective at approximately 4,566 metres. The summit attempt normally begins before dawn so climbers can use the cooler early hours and return from the exposed upper ridge with enough daylight.
Little Meru is a secondary high point reached from the Saddle Hut area and is often used as an acclimatisation outing before the main Socialist Peak attempt.
